Members of the Operation REASSURANCE Land Task Force (LTF) Poland are participating in Exercise SABER GUARDIAN in Eastern Europe from July 13 to 24, 2017.
As a member of the LTF Poland, Master Corporal Reiner Soliman is taking part in this exercise, which is led by the United States with more than 25,000 troops from more than 20 nations including Canada, Greece, Italy, and Romania. Troops are working out of Papa Air Base, Hungary.
As Section Commander for 7 Platoon from Charlie Company Group of the 3rd Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, he led his section members through Glass House Drills on July 14, 2017.
“Basically we were rehearsing entering a building using proper tactics, techniques, and procedures,” said Master Corporal Soliman. “We follow our drills to ensure we avoid mistakes. There is a certain way to enter the door of a building. You can't hesitate. If you flinch, the guy behind you will flinch which could trigger a serious accident.”
Glass house rehearsals are foundation training for urban operations, a subset of conventional operations the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and its Allies practice during exercises like SABER GUARDIAN.
“We take the training seriously, then we all laugh and relax together afterward. I love my unit and the guys I work with,” said Master Corporal Soliman.
