After providing protection to all elected representatives of the BJP in West Bengal, Centre has now provided security cover to family members of Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of opposition in state assembly. Sources said Adhikari’s father Sisir Kumar Adhikari and brother Dibyendu Adhikari have been provided Y-plus category security of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Suvendu Adhikari himself enjoys Z-category security of the CRPF.
“Owing to intelligence inputs of threat to Adhikari’s brother and father, the home ministry has accorded central security to them. Both elected representatives. The orders were issued on Friday,” a home ministry official said.
Sisir and Dibyendu, sources said, will be protected by two security personnel at all times whenever mobile apart from some personnel to guard them at their residence. Sources said in all it could involve around 10-11 personnel taking into account rotation of the personnel.
While Sisir Adhikari is a BJP MP from Kanthi Lok Sabha constituency in West Bengal, Dibyendu is a TMC MP of Tamluk constituency.
