    Berlin Slams Withdrawal of US Troops From Syria, Paris Stays to Fight Daesh

    US President Donald Trump recently announced in a Twitter statement that the Daesh* terrorist group has been defeated in , adding that this was the only reason for the United States to be in the Middle Eastern country during his presidency.

    “Daesh is weaker than ever. Daesh has gone into hiding and insurgency in its manner of fighting. Daesh has lost more than 90% of its territory. Daesh has no more logistics as it could have had. But Daesh is not removed from the map, nor its roots, it is necessary to definitively defeat militarily the last pockets of this terrorist organization”, French Minister for the Armed Forces Florence Parly said on Twitter.

    Trump's decision to withdraw US troops from Syria could hurt fight against the Daesh terror group in the country, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas stated.

    “The unexpected change of course by the American side came as a surprise not only for us. Daesh has been discarded, but the threat has not disappeared”, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said in a statement issued by the press service of the ministry.

    Maas emphasized that finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis was also essential for Daesh fight. He specified that the United played the key role in this process.
