The Canadian detachment of the Eastern Air Defence Sector (EADS) in Rome, New York, marked the 92nd anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force at a mess dinner on April 8, 2016.
Chief Warrant Officer Kevin West, chief warrant officer of the Canadian Armed Forces, was guest of honour. Lieutenant-Colonel Kyle Paul, the detachments’ commanding officer, presented Chief West with a gift on behalf of EADS.
“It was a huge honour to have Chief Warrant Officer West at our Mess Dinner,” said Lieutenant-Colonel Paul. “We are a detachment of only fifteen military personnel so to have the opportunity to host the Canadian Forces chief warrant officer and explain our mission and how our personnel contribute solidified the importance of what we do day in and day out.”
During his visit, Chief Warrant Officer West participated in a group fitness activity, met with staff from the Military Family Services Center and toured the Sector Operations Control Center.
The small but mighty team of Canadian Armed Forces personnel also welcomed its new unit warrant officer recently.
Warrant Officer Mark A. Keown took over from Warrant Officer James McCarron, who is being posted to the Canadian Joint Operations Command. Warrant Officer Keown comes to the EADS from 2 Air Expeditionary Squadron at 2 Wing Bagotville, Quebec.
During his time at EADS, Warrant Officer McCarron was operationally qualified as an air surveillance technician and instructor mission crew commander technician. He…
